Her journey began in the classrooms of Dallas, Texas, as a Teach For America corps member and high school Biology teacher. Here, maya’s innovative teaching methods and dedication to her students earned her national recognition for promoting academic excellence.

Driven by a deep love for education, maya transitioned into a role as Coordinator in Talent & Partnerships at Teach For America. Her commitment to student success continued at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she supported student-athletes and undergraduates, helping them navigate their academic and personal challenges.

Before joining Spring Impact, maya served as a Learning Specialist at the University of Texas at Austin Athletic Department. Her professional journey includes contributions to community mental health and child welfare, and she has also worked with diverse populations such as incarcerated fathers and houseless college students.

maya’s educational background is a testament to her dedication to social justice and transformative leadership. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Women’s Studies with a focus on women’s health disparities from Spelman College, and dual Master’s degrees in Social Welfare and Education in Transformative Coaching and Leadership from the University of California, Los Angeles.
